Chad W. Underwood

Executive Director

Chad W. Underwood, MPA has served as the PIL Executive Director since 2019. Chad oversees the administration and management of PIL, including the facilitation of Board oversight, operations, fiscal management, human resources, compliance, communications, strategic planning, advocacy, and program operations. Chad has a Master’s in Public Administration degree from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School.

Program Coordinator & Career Coach (bilingual)

Nicole M. Collazo Cruz, MSW has worked as a PIL Career Coach since 2019. She provides personalized case management services to emergent bilinguals whose primary language is Spanish. Since 2021, Nicole has helped coordinate PIL’s Vocational and Educational Services for English Language Learners (VESELL) Program, Diversity in Early Education & Care (DEEC) Program, Intergenerational Learning Circles workshops, and Diaper Distribution efforts. Nicole has a Master’s on Social Work from the American University of Puerto Rico.

Christine A. Cruz

Career Coach

Christine A. Cruz, MS, CAS has worked with PIL since 2018. She helped spearhead the implementation of PIL’s Diversity in Early Education & Care (DEEC) Program and served as its ENL Instructor. Chris has more than 20 years history as an English Language Learning (ELL) professional. Chris currently serves as a career coach for PIL’s Vocational and Educational Services for English Language Learners (VESELL) Program and Diversity in Early Education & Care (DEEC) Program.

Theresa E. Pagano

Career Coach (bilingual)

Theresa E. Pagano, MS is the Founding Director of PIL. She spearheaded the creation of PIL in 1989 and led the organization’s evolution for more than 30 years. During that time, she served in a variety of capacities, including administrator, program coordinator, career coach, volunteer, and Board Director, among many others. Theresa currently serves as a career coach for PIL’s Vocational and Educational Services for English Language Learners (VESELL) Program and Diversity in Early Education & Care (DEEC) Program. Theresa focuses on helping emergent bilinguals achieve personal and professional goals, primary related to early education and care.

Linda M. Facciponte

MANOS Director

Linda M. Facciponte, MA has worked in a variety of capacities with PIL since 2018. Since 2019, she has directed the MANOS Dual Language Early Education and Intergenerational Learning Program. Linda manages the daily operations of the MANOS Pre-K program and the MANOS Home-Based program. Linda has a Master’s of Arts from New York University and has NYS Permanent Certification for N, K, and Grades 1-6.

Instructional Coach

Jody M. Schappert, MS has worked as an Instructional Coach and Consultant for PIL’s MANOS Program since 2017. Jody brings to PIL more than 45 years of experience in the early education and care profession and has specialized expertise with teaching literacy. Jody has a Master’s in Early Childhood Development degree from SUNY Oswego, and has NYS Permanent Certification for N, K, and Grades 1-6.

MANOS Office Assistant, Substitute, Floater (bilingual)

Marcy DeJesus has worked in a variety of capacities with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2018, including as a Teacher Aide, Substitute / Floater, and as an Office Assistant. Marcy provides primary assistance to the MANOS Director with regards to administrative matters, including the implementation of MANOS, SCSD, OCFS and PIL policies and procedures. Marcy has 10 years of experience in early education and care.

Yanet Gainza Martinez has worked with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2015. She currently serves as the MANOS Lead Teacher for PIL’s Delaware Room 306 class. Yanet oversees the delivery of early education and care, classroom-based services for up to 18 four-year-old children. Yanet also serves as the MANOS Program’s OCFS Delaware Site Supervisor. Yanet has a degree in Theology and Bible from Cuba.

Evelyn Hernandez-Febus, BA has worked with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2017. She currently serves as the MANOS Lead Teacher for PIL’s Seymour Room 103 class. Evelyn oversees the delivery of early education and care, classroom-based services for up to 18 four-year-old children. Prior to joining PIL, Evelyn was an Elementary School Teacher in Puerto Rico.

Maria Elena Munoz, MMkt has worked with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2018. She currently serves as the MANOS Lead Teacher for PIL’s Delaware Room 102 class. Maria Elena oversees the delivery of early education and care, classroom-based services for up to 18 three-year-old children. Maria Elena has a Master of Marketing degree from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

Monica L. Rivas Gomez has worked with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2020. She currently serves as the MANOS Lead Teacher for PIL’s Seymour Room 105 class. Monica oversees the delivery of early education and care, classroom-based services for up to 18 three-year-old children. Monica has a Bachelor’s in Law degree from the University San Carlos de Guatemala.

Wanda Ivette DeJesus rejoined PIL’s MANOS Program in early 2021 (previously worked with PIL from 2007 – 2009). She currently serves as the Teacher Assistant for PIL’s Seymour Room 103 class. Wanda provides primary assistance to the Lead Teacher in the provision of classroom-based services for up to 18 four-year-old children. Wanda has 15 years of experience working in the early education and care profession.

Wilmarini Hernandez has worked with PIL’s MANOS Program since 2005. She currently serves as Teacher Aide for PIL’s Seymour Room 105 class. Wilmarini helps the Lead Teacher and Teacher Assistant with the provision of classroom-based services for up to 18 three-year-old children. Wilmarini has 16 years of experience working in the early education and care profession.
